PostSubject: Newspaper Contacts   Mon Aug 25, 2008 12:14 am

We really need some press on this, a good way to get press coverage is by contacting major Papers, sending letters to the Editor, Press releases to their News Dept. and Human Intrest stories, and to their Entertainment Depts.

I will post contact info as I find it on major newspapers, any who have contact info for there Papers are encouraged to post it as well.

Any may send there concerns to these papers as they become available.

Here is a press release I have done for any to use.

Guidlines for effective press releases, info copied right from LA time site!
What Is A Press Release?
In general, a good press release is a concise, complete description of an upcoming news event; a timely report of an event that has just occurred;
notification of important personnel or procedural changes in an organization; or other news or feature tips.

What Is The Best Format?

Keep releases short.

Double-space.

Write clearly, addressing who, what, where, why and when in the first two paragraphs.

Identify the organization or individual sending the release and include the name and daytime phone number (with area code) of someone we can contact if we have questions.

Date the release and include whether the material is for immediate use or for release at a later date.

If you send materials to more than one of our sections simultaneously, attach a note telling us you are doing so. This will assist our editors in preventing duplication.

One page releases if possible are best.

If the release is longer than one page, type "more" at the bottom of each page and identify following pages with either the subject of the release or the name of your organization.

Type "end" or "30" at the bottom of the last page.

All who have any contact info on any major newspaper can post it here too, the more papers we could issue a press release to the more Fans we can rally!

Also another way of getting free publicity in adition to press releases, is by composing a story (small one page article), and sending it to the paper as one of the following:

Letter To The Editor

A Human Intrest Story

With the edition of denver, the map bellow shows how many people we have the potential to reach if we come up with a Press Release and or an entertainment story about Atlantis.

The more fans that contact these papers the better as it shows there is a demand for the story about our show, as papers look for stories that have a lot of intrest, if they get several hundred emails about our fight to save Atlantis, they very likley will do a story in there paper with this web site, which will bring in the #s of fans we need to make this campaign a complete success!

Owners of the forum A Question may we put this forums website in our communication with these and other newspapers as they become available?

Hey Scifinut007!
What a great idea! If you put the websites in the communications it will direct them to see how much people are putting into this and may well help the cause.
I love your idea, and is one that we have been looking into for some Sci Fi magazines as well. Currently getting a list together of the magazines emails and snail mails. Will let you all know.

I did include it in the press release I did, I went ahead and moved it to the first post in this topic.

I know that a lot of fans are talking about boycotting any future Gate activity TV and DVDs, I am very strongly convinced that this is the best way, as it hits the pocket book of MGM and that is what they understand.

However I also know how important it is that we have ALL FANS of the show sending email and faxes and snail mails and Press releases, so I have made a second press release that I have nuetrilized a little, so if any were holding back from sending the first one they can send this one.

We Need ALL of the shows fans to help, so please do what ever you can!

Even if all you can do is to send 1 email, as remember drops do fill the bucket!
